I am writing on behalf of the Ridley Rowing Team as we are spreading awareness about our 24-hour Erg-a-thon in memory of Coach Nancy Storrs.
If you never had the privilege of meeting Coach Storrs, she was a remarkable individual who broke new ground in the sport of rowing. Coach Storrs was known for her tireless work ethic and unwavering passion for the sport, which she devoted over 50 years of her life to advancing. Her influence was felt even by those she didn't personally coach, as she was always willing to share her insights and wisdom with the next generation of rowers.
Sadly, Coach Storrs passed away this past September after a long and courageous fight against cancer. This Friday, we invite the Niagara community to join us as we kick off the inaugural Nancy Storrs Memorial erg-a-thon. In the fieldhouse foyer, the mens and womens rowing team will be rowing for 24 hours straight and will be collecting donations in Coach Storrs' memory to raise funds for the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Our team goal is to raise $1000 in memory of Coach Storrs.
