Hello everyone ! my name is Jeff, and i am a Senior Geological Specialist working on a project near the small town of Lokichar, in the Turkana region, North West Kenya.
I have now been working in the region since November 2017, and have been fortunate to work with local communities. Since being here, I have witnessed the extremely challenging lives the local communities face, with even the basic needs such as water and healthcare a daily struggle. I am fortunate to live a comfortable life with my wife and pup, where the biggest daily challenges we face are usually as menial as choosing a TV programme to watch, deciding where our next vacation may be, or deciding what to have for dinner. One particular member of the community (Evans) has been an inspiration to me, he earns very little (less than $10 per day) and what he does earn, he supports his siblings to go to school and volunteers at Nakukulas in his free time. His aspirations are to become a teacher at the school ,and it is his story and his dedication which has driven me to help raise funds for the school which means the most to him.
