Masks for Chicago Hospital Workers

Donation protected
Lack of organization for protective gear for healthcare workers

Though the government claims to be getting personal protective equipment (PPE) for the health care staff at hospitals in Chicago, IL, numerous hospitals have only days worth of supply and have already started rationing supplies.

Already, there is a resident physician being hospitalized for COVID-19. My boyfriend is a resident  physician and has an underlying lung condition that puts him at higher risk on the front-lines. His department is responsible for emergent airway intubations throughout his large Chicago Hospital. I know many other front-line health-care workers that also have underlying conditions.

In the upcoming days, this means even more people will be putting themselves at risk to help others without the necessary protection.

UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated! An order has been placed and one hospital will be receiving 100 N95 early next week. I have raised the target goal because I'm now in contact with a direct manufacturers that require a minimum order of purchase, which means more money is needed to place a larger order. HOWEVER this means we can make an even larger impact on protecting healthcare workers at multiple hospitals as well as protecting first-responders. Around $900 more to reach our goal and we'll be able to purchase 740 certified masks!
