Hurricane recovery fund (Val & Ron)

Hurricane Irma left behind a wake of destruction in the Florida Keys where my mom Valerie Matney and her husband Ron Jacobson reside. They live on Big Pine Key and own 2 homes there. Unfortunately, it was one of the most severely damaged Keys. I am happy to report they got out in time and are safe, but unfortunately, both of their homes were a total loss. Yesterday, they were able to survey the damage for the first time. There is still no running water or electricity to the area. The homes are uninhabitable and require extensive clean up and repairs. With the loss, they lost all income from those properties as well. And, were that not enough, all their tools swept away by the storm.
 
I am Nicole, Val's oldest daughter. I'm setting up this Go Fund Me account to help her and her husband start the process of rebuilding their lives. The funds will go towards personal items lost and tools to start the clean up and repairs. It will also help pay for food, water and gasoline. Finally, it will help cover bills they cannot pay due to the total loss of income from the properties. I am really hoping they can avoid losing the homes entirely.
