Let us tell you a little about Dani...
Danielle Sheriff was a fit and healthy 33 year old Geordie lass who'd moved to Gran Canaria over 10 years ago. It is fair to say she lived the dream over there, she loved her life in Gran Canaria, but never forgot about her family back home.
In September 2020, after feeling unwell for a number of weeks, Dani collapsed having suffered a devastating brain aneurysm. Dani's condition continued to deteriorate further whilst in hospital, despite several operations and attempts to keep her alive. Dani's Mam & Dad - Ronnie and Julia - prepared themselves for something no parent should have to do, to say goodbye to their beautiful daughter.
Miraculously, shortly before her 34th birthday on Christmas Day, Dani's condition improved slightly. Whilst she is far from being out of the woods, it is a miracle that Dani continues to fight and stay with us.
Dani's Mam and Dad have been by their daughter's side every step of the way for the last four months. However, they still have a home to pay for back in England, as well as all of the other day to day costs both at home and in Gran Canaria. As their savings have dwindled, Ronnie and Julia will soon have to return to England in an attempt to earn money to keep themselves afloat.
This is going to be a long, arduous journey to recovery for Dani and all focus for her Mam and Dad should be on supporting their daughter continue to fight for her life, without worrying about how they are going to survive financially.
So what's the challenge, I hear you ask?

So what's the challenge, I hear you ask?
We are going to be making our way, virtually, from Dani's hometown South Shields to Maspalomas in Gran Canaria - a distance of 2375 miles. We will be running, cycling, swimming our way to Dani and recording our miles using Strava. Obviously, the more people we have completing miles, the quicker we will reach the 2375 miles! We would love to see other people getting involved and adding to the miles too as a show of support to Dani and her Mam and Dad.
