Harrison Tavana, our 6-year-old nephew, son, brother, cousin, grandson, was diagnosed on August 24, 2020, with a rare form of brain cancer known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG. While this type of cancer is very aggressive, Harrison remains brave through all of his appointments and treatments. The news of his disease has been devastating to all of us but we know God is indeed mindful of Harrison and his family.
Our strong, brave, and loving Harrison faces a long journey involving more medical procedures that a young boy should ever have to face. Radiation, chemotherapy, and a list of other potential life-saving medications will become a regular part of his routine. We are aware that his journey will include exhausting days of chemotherapy and days that will bring us all a smile with little victories offering the hope of promise. Through whatever may come, Harrison will need us all, his family, and dear friends, to support and lift him in times of need.
