Donna's Medical Fund

This past year and a half has included some of the toughest days for my sister Donna. As many of you know, Donna was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus from a very young age and has lived a healthy and very happy life for 21 strong years. Hydrocephalus is a condition where excess fluid builds up in the cavities deep within the brain. Her diagnosis never interfered with her day to day activities until January 2015 where she had her first serious surgery involving her fourth ventricle. Since that January she has undergone dozens of procedures, all in an attempt to stabilize the fluid amount and pressure in her brain. My father and mother have been by her side every step of the way, from having her being unable to move from bed, to getting her strong enough to be back home and working her strength on the treadmill. Sadly, we have had to watch her get strong enough to stand up and then watch her helplessly fall back into bed at the hospital. We have endured this heart wrenching cycle again and again.

Donna is currently in the hospital unable to move much or speak, however, she fully comprehends her surroundings and is trapped in a body that is unable to display her emotions or communicate for her. We are now at a point where many doctors have given up on Donna’s case saying that my family should be more realistic with the outcome for her future. We are not believing these opinions and have not given up on Donna. We believe in my sister and her incredible strength and have certainty that someone special can help her. Donna’s insurance has honestly been incredible in finding the most knowledgable doctors on her case and finding the best physical therapists in our area, however, I believe it is time to take a new avenue. Insurance has only been able to go so far and my family is in serious financial ties to do anything they can to help Donna. I am asking for your generosity today to help my sister so that she will have the means to find that doctor that can solve her case. I will be surprising my family in two weeks with a visit, since I live on the opposite coast, and would love to also surprise them with this donation. I would be endlessly gracious for any amount you would like to give towards this cause.
