Kelly's Journey for a Kidney
Donation protected
On December 6, 2017 my life will change for the better! I will be receiving a kidney from my angel here on earth. This transplant will give me a new lease on life. For the past 24 years I've had to live with type 1 diabetes and because of that I ended up with end stage renal disease. On sept 8, 2016 I started peritoneal dialysis and had to do dialysis every night for about 10 hours through a catheter in my abdomen. Unfortunately my body didn't like having that catheter in me and after numerous surgeries I had it removed and started Hemo dialysis through a temporary port in my chest. While I did dialysis through the temp port I had a AV graft placed in my left arm. I learned how to do my own dialysis at home 4 days a week for roughly 4 1/2 hours a day and to draw my own blood. Through multiple hospital stays and complications I stayed positive that a living donor or deceased donor would come to me! My prayers were answered on Oct 9, 2017 when I was contacted by the St. John's living donor coordinator that a living donor was a match!! Unfortunately transplants aren't free and aren't covered 100% by my insurance so that's why I'm asking everyone to help me out!! A donation would be appreciated more then you'll know! Thank you in advance for anything that you can contribute! Love, Kelly
