The Sustainable ARTv

Donation protected

In 2012 I bought an old RV to take to festivals. After a year, I decided I wanted to make it into something more functional and beautiful. So I decided to turn it into a sustainable energy ARTv. I didn't know anything about construction when I started but I was determined to create my vision. It’s taken 9 months to build the frame and now it’s ready for the final step.

For the next step, my intention is to wrap the RV with brushed aluminum and add a digital art piece. I will then install solar panels and a wind turbine for renewable energy. I also plan to put in a small hydroponics system in the kitchen to grow vegetables and herbs with reusable gray water.

I appreciate any help that anyone is willing to give. Whether it be funds, materials, or a helping hand. I'm grateful for all of it! Please share so others can be a part of it too! Thank you. <3

[Below is a series of photos showing the progression of the build]

This is me beginning to take off the metal..

When I took the metal off, I discovered massive wood rot on all of the walls.

I replaced the rotted out walls with 5/8" plywood.

I then uncovered the roof and found much more decay.

I rebuilt the roof with sturdier materials and rewired all of the lights...and added a few new ones while I was at it.

I added better insulation than was there before

I added an additional layer of plywood for added strength and durability

I did the same for the front and back of the RV.

Now the RV is ready for the metal, the art, and the solar panels.

For the metal, I'm inspired by the rivet work and the wheel wells on this bus:

For the art piece I'm considering covering 1/4 of the ARTv with an Android Jones piece. I saw his truck at a festival and was immediately inspired.

There are other cool features I'm considering but those will come later.
