My wish to raise funds for Cardiac Rehab Equipment

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Phil,

On 15 August 2023 my life was turned upside down, I experienced two consecutive heart attacks and received CPR twice by the ambulance crew within minutes of their arrival.

It was obviously a very scary experience, especially for my wife, who was by my side throughout. I was lucky that the incredible ambulance crew had taken only 10 minutes to arrive after dialing 999, any longer and I wouldn’t be writing this.

I was then rushed to hospital and within minutes of arrival, I was watching the doctors on the video screen, checking my heart for the cause. They corrected the problem by adding a stent. Before I knew it I was in ICU where I can only describe the care as excellent. I feel so grateful to be alive due to the vigilance and skills of the ambulance crew that day.

My recovery has been hard going with ups and downs; an emotional rollercoaster. I am very appreciative to have such a strong, positive and supportive family and friends around me.

So, I started the Cardiac Rehabilitation course at Holy Trinity Church in Margate an 8-week course that has been an invaluable source of support for me. I was very nervous to begin, but I was in the best hands. They started by building up my confidence with lectures on managing risks, well being practices and giving me an understanding of what had happened to me and how to move forward with confidence, alongside measured and supervised exercises to regain and improve on my fitness.

Without these classes, I dread to think where I would be. It has helped me in so many ways, I can’t begin to explain; from there I have gone from strength to strength. I haven’t been as fit or had as much energy since adolescence, it’s as though a reset button has been pushed.

So, to give back…. I am walking 6.5 miles a day for 31 days of January, a total of 200 miles

I wish to raise funds for the Cardiac Rehabilitation team to purchase much needed equipment to further enhance their services.

I want to raise funds so others will benefit from the support and guidance that the Cardiac Rehab team delivers with such sensitivity and professionalism. Raising these funds enables the team to acquire new blood pressure monitoring machines and other equipment in consultation with them to better support the services they provide.

I’m looking forward to updating you with a presentation to the team of equipment purchased through funds raised from my walk, which includes walking on my Birthday; because I’m grateful to be here for it.

I am among the lucky ones, I have recovered amazingly well and want to use my regained fitness purposely to show my gratitude and thanks by supporting the NHS services that I owe my life and ongoing health to.

I am sure the team and every future attendee to the course will benefit and be grateful for your donation. I personally, shall be immensely thankful that my walking 200 miles will go to a valuable cause.
Thank you,
Phil
