My time is not over yet

My name is Scooter.

In August of 2012 HALO rescued me from a puppy mill that had been shut down.

It was an underground operation and rescue teams met up from other shelters not knowing what they were getting but knowing they would save us and give us a better life.

After all the rescues were unloaded from the transport van a small guinea pig size carrier came out and there I was.

No one knew what to make of me… I was 2lbs of solid urine soaked matts. My body was curved in a C position and I could not walk.

Everyone looked in disbelief and I heard silence as to who would take me and would be able to take on my care financially and physically.

Jacque, the Director of HALO looked into my big brown eyeballs, wrapped me in a towel and loaded me along with 32 other destitute rescues.

My treatments began which included surgeries, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and massage therapy. It was determined that I had been confined in such a small space for years of my life that I had deformed and would never be able to walk again.

HALO always believes in Miracles and after a year of intensive therapy I began to scoot- hence my name! I first started to scoot on towels, then rugs, then any surface. I started small and then I began to zoom around anywhere I wanted.

I gained my life back… probably for the first time since I was born.

For the last couple of years, I have had the most wonderful foster family. My parents love me with all their hearts and give me the best life.

This week I have had a major set back. I was rushed to the Brevard Emergency Clinic. After X-Rays and blood work it was found that I have a hernia that has blocked my ability to urinate. They said I was lucky my bladder had not burst killing me. They have drained me for time being and they said I am a good candidate for hernia repair surgery which will save my life.

I am not ready to give up and HALO nor my family will give up on me, but we need your help to fund my operation.

HALO is Indian River Counties only no kill, non profit animal rescue and adoption center. Once an animal enters HALO we pledge to provide everything needed to cover them medically, emotionally or behaviorally.

We can’t do it without your help. Believing in Miracles!
