My second bout of breast cancer
Donation protected
After having been free of breast cancer since 2001, I have been again diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to my bones, lung, and brain. Though I have incredible friends and family, who have helped me financially, my medical expenses have made this experience unbearable. My husband and I have completely depleted our 401K and incurred $25,000 in credit card debt due to my medical and expenses.
My doctors monitor me every three months with a full-body PetScan and MRI of my brain. Last year I had Gamma Knife Neurosurgery to excise four brain tumors. As you can imagine these are all expensive medical procedures. In December a new brain tumor was discovered for which I will have neurosurgery again. In 2018, I anticipate my medical costs will essentially be the same, barring any new developments.
I’m hoping to raise $20,000 through GoFundMe to cover what I currently owe and the upcoming quarterly imaging studies and neurosurgery. Half of this will be used to pay what I currently owe (and what I'm being hounded for!).
My husband and I have our two daughters and two grandchildren living with us. The impact of our financial situation has affected everyone in our family. Everyone tries to help as much as they can, but there are limits to how much they can offer. Unfortunately, with this current situation, it is difficult to focus on family life with these expenses hanging over our heads.
