My Puggle and best friend Frankie

Some might say a pet is just a pet. For me my pet, Frankie, is my little shadow, my solace, my companion and my best friend.
Frankie, is a 12 year old Puggle. She ended up really sick having eaten something (I still don't know what or from where) that blocked her small intestine causing her an acute pancreatitis. If left untreated it would have meant her insides would have started to be "eaten up". The beagle part in her doesn't discriminate when it comes to consuming things in order to deal with separation anxiety. She is almost always with me, but sometimes she needs to be left at home.
Those of you who know Frankie know she is an energetic dog. So much so, most think she's a puppy. She is an amazing creature who always allows toddlers to pet her in the street, even if it's a group of overly excited children. She is intelligent, patient, funny, sweet and amazingly gentle. If you are sad, she knows and stays really close, waiting patiently in case you need to cuddle, pet her, or just talk to her. It doesn't feel like this is her time to go, and I'm not ready to not have her in my life.
I've had a challenging 2 years struggling with my mental health and as a result have been on and off work. But it's been an incredible journey learning about myself and having to accept that I need regular therapy with a psychologist, and that it was OK to need to be medicated for now to help me through understanding where I'm struggling and what needs to change in my life.
It's been at times some of the most difficult times emotionally, and financially for me. Having to face my demons, having to realize who I am (and who I'm not) and the pain I have been in. I've made many mistakes along the way and have been learning that in order to move forward. I need to allow myself to experience the feelings that I've spent a life time burying, avoiding, and really trying to run from.
Through all this I have been fortunate to have Frankie by my side... my anchor, my unwavering support.
I was faced with the decision of whether to have her operated on or put her to sleep. I chose the operation and it is costing me over $5000 but I couldn't bring myself to have to put a price tag on her worth. To me she is invaluable and money is just money. But I'm not in any position financially at this moment to handle this bill. I am truly blessed that someone very dear to me in my life is able to lend me the money. But this is my decision, and I'm faced with a difficult debt that I'm determined to pay back. A debt that otherwise may have been the worst decision of my life.
Frankie was successfully operated on last night, and is currently in recovery at the veterinary hospital for the weekend. I will be posting regularly about her recovery on Instagram and Facebook.
It is humbling for me to have to reach out and ask for this help, and if you know me, I have helped out many people without asking for anything in return so I'm taking a leap of faith and trusting in whatever that everything will work out. I'm willing, in exchange for donations to offer my handyman services for those who live in the greater area of Montreal. Simply send me a message via this page or through social media. I can pretty much do anything handy-wise. As well, if you are struggling with your own mental health and want to talk or reach out, I have found that being open and honest with what I'm going through has been the best type of therapy and healing so far for me.
