My parents lost everything - Harvey

My parents lost everything in hurricane Harvey. Dad is in his late 70's and is a cancer survivor so his health and physical abilities are limited. I provide the muscle and such to help him keep going. They are on fixed income of course at that age and couldn't afford hurricane (called wind in Texas) insurance. So he had no coverage. We had never discussed that type of insurance on the occassions when we discussed finances. A short coming on my part but health was the focus for most of our conversations of that nature. I don't usually ask anyone for help as I try to take care of our own but they truly can use any assistance they can get to rebuild their lives, from the ground up. They are living with me now, which of course is taxing for all of us and the resources I have available. They have clothes, food and a roof at my house so they aren't living on the street. We will get by and I'll take care of keeping them going at my home. But they could use help to get some type of small home started. They have applied to FEMA but it'll be a couple weeks before they get out to take a look and if denied assistance they will be directed to a loan program, I don't remember the name but they can't afford a loan, I'll have to help out there. So, my request is simple, if you can spare a dime to help my parents start to rebuild their lives I will be so very grateful. This is hard to type as I'm a proud person and do for myself and my family. If it wasn't a total wipe out for them I could shoulder it and move them forward but this time, this event is more than I can carry. Thank you for reading and if you can spare some change we will be so grateful. Also, please think of the others who have been wiped out, we are 1 of so very many others in the same position. Rockport is largely a retirement community, most folks didn't have much for money or resources and their familys, as ours, are having to carry them. We are Texans, we WILL survive but could use just a little help this time. God Bless You and all of us....
