Thanks to everyone I reached my first target for a plane ticket, so anything extra will go towards funeral costs.

Hi, my name is Simone and this morning, I found out my best friend of over 26 years has passed. I’m still in shock. But I’m trying to figure out how to get home to her and to our families.

She was like my sister. She is my sister. I never had one until her. Her life wasn’t easy but no matter what, she was there for so many people. She had a radiance and inner beauty that lit up souls around her. And everyone gravitated to her. So I’m hoping to rally all those touched by her to help me get to her to say goodbye one last time to my soul sister as she called us.

My Micheley was so smart and witty and fiercely loyal. No matter what she was going through, she’d put it aside and go champion for her loved ones. A proud engineer, Michele found her element among big machinery and all she wanted was to be a professor at a university, teaching what she loved. And for her mom to be ok and me to be happy.

No matter how far apart we were in distance, we remained best friends, sisters. And she’s always been part of my heart and I know I was part of hers. The world got a little sadder and emptier the moment she left it and I feel a part of my heart went with her.

And now I need to get home to South Africa to say goodbye to a brave, caring, loving, compassionate soul who has been there most of my life.

I’m trying to raise funds for a return ticket home from Dublin. They can be extremely expensive. But anything will help. And if there’s extra I want to give it to her family to help with the funeral costs.

I immigrated to Ireland and for a while she was here too so I had a piece of home closer to me. Now I need to get home to send her off. Moving here has been hard. Emotionally and financially and I have no way of getting home to see her. So I’m asking for help.

Please help me get home. I need to be with my family and hers and I need to see my sister one last time.
