My Medical Bills & Accessible Home

Donation protected
I have to start by saying this is the most difficult thing I've done. I worked for over 30 years as an Early Childhood Teacher, and had to retire due to the effects of Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. Finding a job to supplement my pension has been difficult due to my physical limitations, primarily my stamina. Some days are fine, other days, I'm down for the count. My husband has also had health struggles, including a brush with death last October, and between the two of us, we've accumulated astronomical medical bills. My power wheelchair needs repairs, and other medical equipment I need isn't covered enough by insurance to allow us to purchase it. My specialized van collided with two deer on a dark, foggy road in the Hill Country last fall, and the specialized rental I needed for a month cost so much more than our insurance policy covered.

Our home of nearly 20 years was built in the early 1980s, and is not fully accessible. We love our neighborhood and neighbors, and want to remain here. We can't unless some major remodeling is done.

I know many people are struggling with problems greater than ours. I know there are kind people in this world who are eager to help.

No matter if you donate, say a prayer, hold space, please know we see and feel each one of you and are thankful for you.

Thank you for reading my story. Thank you for sharing my story if you are so inclined. Love, Light, and Peace to All.
