MY LAST PATROL ( for Lionheart Lou)
Donation protected
On August 29th I will sign my papers and will be officially retired from the Nassau County Sheriff's Department. I have been asked many times what will I do when I retire. I wanted to do something memorable to mark this occasion. My fellow correction officers have taking care off each other over the 29+ years I have been there so, I decided that should be my last act as a member of the department. After I sign my papers, I will start MY LAST PATROL walking from East Meadow to Orient Point. That patrol will be between 80 and 90 miles, and I will take 3 days to complete it. Lionheart Lou is the son of one of my fellow officers. In August of 2017 he was diagnosed with a rare cancer ( DIPG). Diffused Intrinsic Pons Giloma is a tumor located at the base of the brain stem and spinal cord. There is No cure for this horrific disease and the life expectancy of children diagnosed with DIGP is 8 months. Luis has been through over 30 rounds of radiation therapy, a numerous amount of MRI, CAT and PET scans. He is currently getting an experimental treatment in Mexico which is not covered by insurance. He travels to Mexico every 4 weeks for the treatment which costs 20-30 thousand dollars per treatment. The definition of Lionheart is brave-soul, Luis is earning his nickname. Nothing matters to me more than Family and friends, I am asking you to donate to this gofundme page then send to your friends explaining that you know me and ask them to donate any amount that they can afford , every dollar will help greatly. If you have any questions just reach out to me.
