My Hurricane Laura Friends

My name is Ricardo Rivas, and I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. Four friends and co-workers, Shavarra, Katie, Larry, and Damon, are suffering the loss of homes and property due to the effects of hurricane Laura in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They are currently staying in hotels in Texas, Oklahoma, and other cities in Louisiana. They are having great difficulty getting assistance from the government. They were only able to get a few days worth of hotel vouchers. One friend who lost her home was only provided money by her insurance company for two days in a hotel instead of the 14 days stated in her homeowners policy. Her insurance company told her that the 14 days began automatically once the state of emergency was declared, not when she requested the benefit payout.  This is an example of what they are struggling with as they work with anxiety all day long to solve housing problems and fight for their benefits from the government and/or insurance companies. Calcasieu Parish is still under an evacuation order, and electricity and water are still weeks away from being available. I am their friend and district manager, and I thank you for your concern and for any amount you can donate to help defray their mounting housing expenses.
