My friend, a mom, a sister, an aunt

2 weeks ago Katie found out she has a 5cm by 4cm 'defect' in her diaphragm.. her intestines have gone into her chest cavity. They are taking up 50% of her right lung space. She does not have insurance at this time due to the insane cost of $500 a month to get medical care. Columbia Surgical Specialists said they could do her procedure but the amount needed paid in full prior to the surgery. This could cost anywhere between 20,000 and 60,000. So Katie returned to the provider whom did her recent Liver surgery. After looking things over he decided he could do this surgery also, opening Katie up and going in through her original liver procedure incision. This was hard enough going through a liver surgery with 3 young boys at home, now boom another surgery yet this time involving another vital organ..... her lung. Unfortunately, it is life threatening, so Katie and her family have no choice but to do the surgery and to encounter at minimum a 20,000 bill but it will more then likely be atleast double if not triple that amount. Surgery is scheduled for this Tuesday, Nov. 21st with a 5:30am check in. It's estimated that Katie will be in the hospital for 6 days. Katie has been my friend for 18+years. We were neighbors as children and now god made sure we were neighbors again as adults. We chased rabbits together around my home, we road our bicycles together, and had sleepovers and giggled over silly girl things. And now being her neighbor again i get to see her oldest son now riding his bicycle around. Im determinded to ride bikes, and giggle with my friend and neighbor again.
