My Daddy: Complete Renal Failure

Donation protected

January 17, 2020:
Dad is now on hemodialysis. He took a turn for the worst recently because the peritoneal dialysis he was on for 6 years was no longer doing its job. He had to have two surgeries (January 7, 2020) to begin hemodialysis immediately and now he isn't near dead (I wish I were exaggerating; I thought we were going to lose him the day I took him in for the scheduled surgery). He NEEDS to have secondary insurance and it requires almost $1,000 up front. Please help us raise this for him. Without it, he will soon lose coverage from medicare, and be unable to afford all of the medications and everything else he needs to keep his body from shutting down.
Please share this, pray, and donate if you can. ANY amount helps. Thank you all.

ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN (still true and relevant, but not the most up to date health information as it was posted in July of 2018):
My father, Toney Gipson, is in complete renal failure (his kidneys no longer rid his body of toxins; this is irreversible). He is on peritoneal dialysis, but ideally he wants/needs to get a kidney transplant. This will allow him to go back to his normal life and work more to pay his bills and medical treatment. His medication costs have recently gone through the roof due to the evil "donut" as they call it. This is when Medicare decides, eh... we're done. You can pay out of pocket for the remainder of the year.

On top of all of this, Toney had to start over earlier this year, on his own, in a new home. For those of you who know my dad well, you know just how big of a change this was for him. The main purpose of this GoFundMe is to help my dad in his time of need. I know how much his friends and family mean to him and I have seen and heard first hand just how much you all care for him. He really has gone through it the past year and it's time for us to work together to give him his life back. *under this picture is a note from Toney; he asked to have it added

A note from Dad:

“Thank you for taking time to read this. Six years ago I was diagnosed with kidney failure. In March of 2015, I started peritoneal dialysis, which I do from home, four times a day. God has been faithful in that I qualified for disability and have been able to focus on my health. My doctor informed me this week that it was time to seriously pursue a kidney transplant. He is confident that a new kidney will give me a new lease on life and allow me to return to work, and I believe that God is leading me in this direction.

Although I have Medicare, there is a “cash in hand” requirement before the surgery as there are many out of pocket expenses during the transplant process, including the necessary anti-rejection medications and follow-up care. Unfortunately, I am now by myself and living only on a disability income.

As someone who has never relied on others for help, this is very difficult for me to ask. I am trusting God that He will provide and if it’s through you, I greatly appreciate it. If not, I appreciate your prayers and your friendship. Thank you for reading and helping during this time of change. May God bless you all…”

He has been a fighter this entire time, but it is difficult for him. At this point in time, he is in desperate need of help just to get his medications and pay his regular bills. The government expects him to live off of nothing and although he has been working midnight-6am shifts, he has not been making a lot of money and these hours are literally killing him (he told me he didn't like that I wrote this statement, but facts are facts... SCC taught me that a long time ago :) ). Any job suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well. Something he can do overnight, as he does dialysis 4 times a day and can have them all done by midnight.

We need to help him get the medications he needs to live and to start saving up to get him on a transplant list. That alone, costs around $10,000 and the average time frame that people spend waiting for their transplant is 2-3 years MINIMUM. One day at a time; any little bit helps.

I want to leave this up as long as possible so please don't feel that you have to donate RIGHT NOW. You do not need to stretch yourself thin; even $1 will help and be much appreciated.  If you cannot donate, simply sharing the GoFundMe link would be an amazing contribution.

This man is too stubborn to ask for help because he doesn't want to inconvenience his friends. So I started this GoFundMe campaign without him! (He got on board quickly, at least!) #sorrynotsorry Daddy. We all love and care about you far too much to sit idly by. My brother, sister, and I love & need our father. This is one of the million reasons why I will not give up until he is well. I hope and pray that you all will join me in this fight.
