My cousin lost his home. Hurricane in Acapulco.

I want to share that Mexico and my family were struck by an unprecedented natural disaster. For those of you who are not aware hurricane Otis unpredictable change from a tropical storm (nothing to worry about) to a category 5 hurricane (strongest possible hurricane). The hurricane made a direct hit to the city of Acapulco.

There was no time for preparing. Then the perfect storm of disaster happened. The damages to the city are post-apocalyptic in scale combined with electricity and all communication being cut off. Since the city costal city is surrounded by mountains, the highways were closed due to landslides, also the airport was damaged. In short, the city became uncommunicated.

3 aunts and uncles and 2 cousins with their families were there. After some nervous time, we got the news that they are all fine. They will travel to Mexico City today or tomorrow since the highway is now partially accessible.

Nevertheless, the apartments are completely destroyed. Attached is a video of my cousin's apartment to get a sense of the destruction.

This fundraiser is dedicated to my cousin Daniel. We grew up together and shared many great times. Now he is facing the challenge of rebuilding for her wife, son, and 2 dogs after the wind blew away his apartment and all his possessions.

Quiero compartir que México y mi familia fueron golpeados por un desastre natural sin precedentes. Para aquellos de ustedes que no lo saben, el huracán Otis cambió impredeciblemente de tormenta tropical (nada de qué preocuparse) a huracán de categoría 5 (el huracán más fuerte posible). El huracán impactó directamente en la ciudad de Acapulco.

No hubo tiempo para prepararse. Entonces ocurrió la tormenta perfecta. Los daños a la ciudad son de escala post-apocalíptica, con la electricidad y toda la comunicación cortadas. Como la ciudad es costera y está rodeada de montañas, las autopistas estaban cerradas debido a deslaves y el aeropuerto también sufrió daños. En resumen, la ciudad quedó incomunicada.

Tres tías y tíos y dos primos con sus familias estaban allí. Después de un tiempo nervioso, recibimos la noticia de que todos están bien. Viajarán a la Ciudad de México hoy o mañana, ya que la autopista ahora es parcialmente accesible.

Sin embargo, los apartamentos están completamente destruidos. Adjuntos hay un video del apartamento de mi primo para que tengan una idea de la destrucción.

Esta recaudación de fondos está dedicada a mi primo Daniel. Crecemos juntos y compartimos muchos buenos momentos. Ahora se enfrenta al desafío de reconstruir para su esposa, hijo y dos perros, después de que el viento se llevó su apartamento y todas sus posesiones.
