Second of all - What's a Musical Web Series?
We are getting ready to move into production on the pilot episode of a musical web series, written and directed by Ellie Gravitte (winner of both INDIEfest and Best Shorts Competition Awards). The series follows a young singer, Monica, as she announces her recent engagement to her unsuspecting family and friends, while simultaneously preparing for the biggest performance of her singing career. It's a warm, lighthearted exploration of community, and the need to express love when we feel it.
What Do We Need?
We begin shooting the episode on March 17th, and we wrap on April 8th. We'll be feeding crew, paying for some beautiful locations across the city of New York, and using professional grade equipment to ensure a clean and cinematic look for the pilot. All of this costs money, and we need YOUR support to make it possible.
What Sets This Project Apart?
This is a project that centers the story of queer womxn characters, without placing emphasis on queerness. Queerness is a trait, not a plot point, in this web series. This is important to us.
We have an almost entirely female team, from our writer/director, to our cinematographer, to our assistant director, and our entirely female producing team.
We have the drive to make it happen. We're not asking for $50,000, or $20,000... Not a single person on this team or cast is getting paid. We aren't in this for the money. We're in this because of our passion for the project, and for telling stories that matter to us.
