Music On Main Restaurant Workers Relief Fund

Tax deductible
We need your help!

If you have attended Music on Main or frequent one of the restaurants that hosts a band on a  Thursday summer nights please consider donating to help the Workers of those establishments.   You can directly help the people who make that night out enjoyable.

In coordination with the Jolly Boys of Williamsville,  we are raising money for the workers that made Music on Main such a fun time!  The pandemic had a dramatic effect on the restaurant workers in out community, so we are raising money to help them pay their overdue bills. We are trying to help as many people in our community as we could, and thought Music on Main is where we could make the biggest impact.  There are a lot of us in our community that enjoyed a relaxing and fun time that Music on Main brought us on Thursday nights in the summer.  This was made possible by the hard work of the Dishwashers, Cooks, Bartenders, Busboys, Servers and other restaurant workers.  These are the same people that the pandemic has had the most severe impact on, and now it’s time to show how much we appreciate them.  Fortunately not everyone has been negatively impacted by the pandemic, and want to help out the people in their community.  If this is you please consider making a donation to this cause.  This is a benefit for the workers only.

If you know someone who worked at one of the Restaurants, and needs financial help please have them fill out the survey at this link.

We have a well throughout plan.  Here’s how it works.  We reached out to the Williamsville Business Association, and the non for profit organization Jolly Boys (a little more about them in a minute).  This gave us access to the restaurants that participated in Music on Main, and a credible local charity that can handle receiving and dispersements of the donations.  We then developed a questionnaire for the workers who may be in need to fill out to understand who is truly in need.   Please be assured that NONE of the donations will go to   The restaurants, owners of the restaurants, relatives of the restaurant owners.  Also, the Jolly Boys organization asked that all Jolly Boys’ members, and family members of the Jolly Boys not be in consideration for any monies.  We are specifically targeting workers who are heads of households that without our support slide further behind in paying their bills.  So, the teenager that is still living at home will not be considered.  Once we receive the applicants information the person will be confirmed by the restaurant that they worked at, and this person is living on their own.  The applicants financial information will be kept confidential.  After much discussion it is estimated that 100 or so workers are in serious need of help.  Our goal is to provide about $1,000 to $2,000 of financial help to these individuals.  This will depend on  the amounts brought in.  A nominal amount of $500 will be donated to the Jolly Boys for the help in managing the funds. There has been discussion on what to do with excess funds  if donations exceed expectations, and all that needed help have been helped.  There are two schools of thought first is open it up to workers impacted by the pandemic, or donate it to the Jolly Boys. More discussion and the path forward will be determined if we helped all the people who needed as currently defined.

A little more on the Jolly Boys, and some housekeeping.  The Jolly Boys of Williamsville is a non-profit service organization comprised of active community minded people.  The Jolly Boys are committed to serving our community through volunteerism and fundraising.   Major activities of the organization are Old Home Days, an annual golf outing, our basketball tournament, and other activities.  Founded in 1972, the Jolly Boys of Williamsville, NY can be found at: https://www.jollyboys.org/

With that said,  the Jolly Boys have opened a separate bank account with Evans Bank to collect and disperse the funds.  Funds can only be distributed using two signatures.  A designated person from the Jolly Boys, and the Williamsville Business Association must sign the checks to draw funds.
