Music Excellence for All students

Hamilton K8 School, in Novato California, is a Title 1 school and a Gold Ribbon recipient for academic excellence. We are a school where diversity is celebrated each and every day. As the music teacher at Hamilton, I am responsible to teach about 60 of the 180 students in the Middle School. We are a fairly new middle school and many of our instruments were donated to us from other schools. Although we greatly appreciate the donations, many of the instruments no longer work well and need to be repaired or replaced. For some of our families, renting or buying a musical instrument can be a hardship. We currently scholarship many of our students but need a healthy inventory of instruments to ensure all students have what they need to succeed.
As the music teacher, my desire is to create a high level music program, where all students have an equal access to properly working musical instruments. I would like to raise enough money to repair those instruments that are repairable and purchase new instruments. Music is a modality, that when taught well, gives students the skills to be successful in all they do as adults, whether they pursue higher education or head out into the work force after high school. Music teaches critical thinking, team building and listening skills that are needed in most careers today,  not just for the Hamilton students, but all students.   Music is a medium that prepares all students to meet the challenges of life.  I hope, those who review this "Go Fund Me" will find it in their hearts to donate.
