TCM Museum Restoration Project

The Tulare County Museum was broken into and vandalized on September 18th causing extensive damage to a number of buildings and a vast amount of museum glass. We are so disappointed that someone would want to damage our beautiful museum and the labor of love for our staff and so many volunteers. As estimates for the damage come in, we are finding that we are in need of any help from the community that may be available, as we are not able to repair some items and they will need to be replaced.
The Tulare County Museum houses one of the largest Native American basket collections in California as well as artifacts of the pioneer era, agriculture equipment, restored buildings and many other treasures that tell the history of Tulare County. The newest addition to the museum is the History of Farm Labor and Agriculture Museum, where each cultural group and their contributions to farm labor and agriculture are featured. The museum aims to educate residents of Tulare County as well as visitors on the importance of Tulare County and its history. We give educational classes and tours to numerous school groups throughout the year and your contribution will make it possible to continue educating students about the unique contributions Tulare County has made to California History.
We hope to begin restoration in the next few weeks. If any funds received go over the cost of the vandalism restoration they will be used toward other restoration projects such as the leaking roof on Surprise School. We truly appreciate any donation however large or small. Thank you so much for your support.
Thank you,
Tulare County Museum Staff
