Mum's courageous battle against breast cancer Lolita Flores
Don protégé
Hello, my name is Digna Flores Dequito and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency on behalf of my beloved mother Lolita Singson Flores who is currently facing breast cancer.
Meet my mum, she is 87 years old, married only to my dad who died many years ago, she is an image of resilience, strength, and determination to all of us and our community.
I remember back in the days when I was young my mom used to take care of us nine children, it was a big responsibility and financial burden having all of us, but she never gave up on us, and when we did not have enough money to buy food, she will do laundry works for our neighbors when there was no automatic washing machine back then, to be able to earn enough for the day and to be able to serve food on the table for us nine children.
In the community, she contributed and served as the president of the seniors or elderly in barangay Fatima III in Dasmarinas Cavite Philippines and she has helped many senior colleagues in our community back in the day. Her contributions have stopped in her area because she suffered a brain stroke last 2016 and had memory loss, but she overcame this after a few years then she suffered pneumonia last 2019 which she overcame too, because my mum was a fighter.
In 2022 my mum began experiencing mild breast pains which she kept for a while until we convinced her to go to the doctor last June 2023 and they confirmed it was breast cancer, it hit us like a ton of bricks we were devastated and it was the biggest challenge that we are all facing. The doctor recommended that she have surgery to remove the mass on her left breast but due to financial constraints and her chance of surviving the operation 50/50 due to her age, we are not able to continue with the surgery.
But my mum refused to accept defeat she continued to fight the breast cancer and the doctor said that she could take medicines in the meantime to combat the cancer on her breast until such time that we had the money for the operation and wanted to take the risks.
I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help, but today, I am. We need your support to help my mother continue her brave fight against breast cancer, all donations will go to her ongoing medical expenses.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will provide Lolita with the gift of time and life. Whether you can donate, share her story, or spread the word, every bit of support counts.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful.
With heartfelt gratitude
