Mumfie's Assisted Living Fund

Donation protected
Please help us get Mumfie back to looking like her old self (shown in headline photo) instead of like she does today (pic taken five days ago in the hospital).  Any donation of any amount, even $5, will be so appreciated.  Please share often on your timeline...thank you!

I am Mumfie's daughter, Lisa (you may know her as Audrey).  My mom used to be a vivid, fun-loving, talented and active woman until a few years ago when she began to suffer from general advanced age, muscle loss and early stages of dementia.  When she owned and operated the "Dilworthtown Country Store," in West Chester PA, and then later "Audrey Julian & Co" (I was the Co.!) in St. Michaels MD, she could run circles around me!

We now need money to pay the entry fee into an assisted living facility for Mumfie.  Without going into a long song and dance , Mumfie has run out of money.  She lived with me and Matt for almost two years before we could no longer adequately care for her.  Because she was out of money and we are fortunate to just be able to pay our own bills, we had no choice but to place her in a long-term care facility until we could get a Medicaid waiver to move her to an assisted living facility.   It was, perhaps, the most gut-wrenching decision ever for me to leave my mom in that place.  She was there for a year during which time she hated every day and was pretty much neglected because she was "high-functioning" and didn't require as much help as others.  Ultimately, that led to a serious kidney infection due to a huge kidney stone that was blocking her tubes.  After two weeks in the hospital, we found a great, small assisted living group home where she can get the attention she needs and deserves.

Unfortunately, her combined social security and my dad's pension are slightly above the cutoff to qualify for the Medicaid waiver, which would allow Medicaid to pay for her assisted living.  So, in order to get her into this small, home-like environment where she will be cared for in a loving, humane group home, we have to self-pay, including an entry fee.  The monthly fees will be covered by her income and supplemented by me, but I don't have the money for the entry fee.  She is now at the assisted living facility (ALF) and is settling in, but we only have two weeks to come up with the entry fee.

Please help in any way you can!  Any amount of donation will be so gratefully accepted and, even if you can't afford to donate, can you please share this link with your friends and family so that maybe they can help.

There really are no words to describe how thankful we will be for your help.  Every penny we get will go directly to the ALF to cover her fee.  She deserves to live with dignity and in a home-like, caring environment rather than in a long term care nursing institution where the system itself is fatally flawed and leads to individual neglect and, I believe, rushes death to people who should have a few more years to enjoy their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (she now has six of those!).

Thank  you from the bottom of my heart.
