Mumbai, India Mission Trip

Donation protected
Hi there! Thank you for considering being a part of getting me to Mumbai, India, to assist with the aftercare program for women who have just gotten out of the sex trade industry. My church in Cincinnati, Crossroads, has partnered with local churches in Mumbai since 2010 to create an aftercare home where girls can heal and be taught love, strength and self-sufficiency.

Why I feel called to go to Mumbai:
An estimated 2.3 million Indian women and children live in forced prostitution. I plan to use my week in Mumbai as a small step to ending this horrific affront to humanity.

India is not the only country where there is sex slavery, but it has one of the highest rates. I believe in a global community, and I consider the women in Mumbai to be my sisters just as much as the women in Ohio.

We've been focusing on the book of Acts recently in my small group, and a message that consistently enters my mind can be summarized by Acts 20:35, when Paul says to the elders of the church, "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

The trip:
The cost is $3,400. This covers the flight, hotel, meals, on-the-ground transportation and work supplies for the week we will be serving in Mumbai.

The trip occurs on October 3-12 of this year.

About me:
I am 25 years old, and have grown leaps and bounds spiritually since having started attending Crossroads a year ago. I'm an active discussion leader in my small group, where we work on building a strong community together as well as blessing our outside community. I also want to assure you that I am a spiritually mature and physically strong (I didn't get jetlag when I flew to Spain) woman that is prepared to serve in these conditions.

All organizations/individuals who contribute to sending me to Mumbai will receive an essay and a picture within a week of my return that details stories of the mission trip. I want you to know that I understand that I'll be a representative in India to all who decide to contribute. This is truly a team effort. We can do this!

How you can help:
Any donations are helpful - no amount is too small; it all adds up. Also, please spread the word - you have access to people I could never reach. Please post this link on your Facebook, tweet it, pin it, Instagram it and tell people in person about this opportunity to fight injustice and help these women and children.

Thank you, Team! It's an honor to be a part of this cause with you.

Kaity

This Hawaiian proverb describes how I feel about going to help a huge cause like forced prostitution in Mumbai:

The Starfish

A man came across a child who was throwing beached starfish back in the sea.

The man said to the child, "Don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it? You can't possibly make a difference!"

The child then bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it gently into the sea, just beyond the breaking waves, and declared, "It made a difference for that one."
