Multi Surgery Fund for Luxe Sophia

Hello community. I'm a genderqueer artist, healer,  and visual & web design student living in Oakland CA.  I've been disabled for the last year and my health issues keep compounding. I have an upcoming surgery on Dec. 18th and I am in need of both financial support and local care providers.

In Jan. '20 I had recovered from an emergency surgery for a misdiagnosed umbilical hernia when I noticed another abdominal tear that was causing a lot of pain and limiting my ability to do minor tasks. Consulting my surgeon, I received  the news I have a genetic condition where my abs are not connected so the mid-line of my chest will continue to tear without a major robotic surgery. Mesh will be placed in my entire abdomen and the recovery time is lengthy..

Then in February, I went to the ER after10 days of debilitating pain . They discovered I have a four inch fibroid complicating my abdominal condition and causing paralyzing nerve pain. By the time this was diagnosed, the  Pandemic was underway and all surgeries were on hold.

After nearly a year of suffering, I am finally having a combo surgery involving the removal of my uterus and a temporary hernia repair on December 18th. My full abdominal surgery will happen sometime later in 2021, after I heal from the first procedure.

I've also really been struggling with a hand injury and now need assisted technology to type. In July I was just getting into bed and all of the bones on my right hand and one bone in my forearm, popped out of place resulting in a severe sprain. It's difficult to cut vegetable for my own meals or text. I finally got in to see Occupational Therapist in late November.  She thinks there is a good chance I have a degenerative connective tissue disease. I'm hoping to get through this upcoming surgery before starting a new round of testing for that.

My SSI disability application is at the "hearing" phase, which my lawyer said could take another 14 months. Surgery costs will be covered but I need help paying my rent, bills and day to day costs in the interim.   My only income is General Assistance, ($336 a month), is being  reviewed right now and I'm not sure if I will be re-approved.

My monthly costs are $1480 mo. with everything down to the bare minimum.

Thank you to everyone who donated the $3,369 over the past 11 months!

I would love to raise another $3000 by December 15th to get through this surgery without stressing about loosing my housing or transportation.

* Raising $6000 more would mean I could actually take the semester off of school and heal instead of forcing myself to attend half-time in January just to have money to survive.

I know money is very tight for everyone right now with so many people out of work and alternative economies struggling.
Sharing this fundraiser with friends, on social media, or even sending me a message helps. If you have my number, phone calls are easier for me these days because of my hand.

Bay Area locals, I'm looking for a State paid part-time care assistant! No medical training is necessary.  Message me privately with your number or email if you want to know more.

Thank you for reading this and spreading the word and abundance!
