Muholeza's Stargardt Treatment

Donation protected
Muholeza Consolat Bahome is a high school senior at Kellogsville High School.  Muholeza is an immigrant from the Congo where he was born and raised until a few years ago.  Muholeza is in our Criminal Justice program at the Kent Career Technical Center.  He recently learned that he has a degenerative eye disease called Stargardts that is slowly making him become blind.  There is no current medications or medical treatments to slow and stop this terrible disease.  Not accepting that he may be blind within a matter of a few years, Muholeza and his family began to do their own research for possible treatment options.  They learned of an acupuncture technique done by a medical facility in New Jersey that combats Stargardts.  However, this treatment costs $5,000 for a two-week treatment and it is NOT paid for by insurance.  The $5,000 bill is for the treatment alone.  Muholeza’s family also had to pay for hotels, food and transportation while in New Jersey.

Muholeza and his father recently traveled to New Jersey and he received the treatment.  Muholeza responded wonderfully it and showed significant improvements.  However, he must return in a few months to receive a second round of treatments and another $5,000 payment plus expenses.  Muholeza has 6 other brothers and his father is a minister.  As you can imagine, money is tight in the Consolat Bahome household.

Muholeza and his family are very humble and resisted any financial help from anyone.  After meeting with his family, they agreed to financial help from wherever they can get it.  We have made announcements in our classes that we would be receiving donations from students until March 19th where we would then present Muholeza and his family the donations given.  Any and all monetary donations are accepted until March 19th and are greatly appreciated by Muholeza and his family.

Sincerely,
