Mugeta Children School COVID-19 Relief Funds

COVID-19 EMERGENCY RESPONSE FUNDS FOR OUR COMMUNITY HEROES

In the past 10 years, the staff at the Mugeta Children school, in rural Tanzania, have worked hard to help hundreds of rural kids in Mugeta achieve their academic dreams.

For 25 years, Mugeta children did not have a chance to pursue secondary education in the schools they wished to join after their grade 7 exams.  But the dedicated teachers at Mugeta school worked hard to change this.

From 2017–the year in which the school had its first graduating class–to 2019, 36 students have joined the best secondary schools in Tanzania. The project has been a major breakthrough for the community.

 
The staff in Mugeta have worked in a greater balance to serve the children and the community. The cooks put on extra effort to feed the kids who otherwise would go hungry. The security guards spent sleepless nights to take care of the school properties. The cleaners made sure the surroundings are clean, the classrooms are dustless, and the washrooms’ hygiene has been maintained for children to use. And the accountants ensured that the financial records are in order and payments are made accordingly.

 The Mugeta school, founded by Dr. Joash Gambarage (a community member who recently graduated with a PhD in Linguistics from the University of British Columbia–Vancouver, Canada) and his family, has been a place that touched the lives of hundreds of children.  Unfortunately, COVID-19 has seriously impacted this school community.  The workers can no longer receive the payment due to the school closure. We have 21 staff who have been impacted.
