My name is Daniel and I am a transgender man in the Caribbean. Originally from Guyana, I recently spent 4 years living in Antigua and am now in Saint Lucia.
I've been on testosterone for three (3) years to combat my Gender Dysphoria. T’s are difficult to access regularly; gender affirmation surgery is even more difficult. In addition to taking T’s, I have been working out steadily so that the rest of me can match the individual I see in my head. This has caused various ripples in the way I see myself, how I relate to people and relationships. But right now, I still feel insecure and unhappy with the relationship I have with my body. I feel disconnected, distanced and estranged.
I honestly want to be happy, to connect the inner me externally, hence my decision to continue to the next stage of my gender affirmation and transition.
My dream is to stand in front of a mirror and see the person that I am inside my head and mind standing, smiling back at me. My transitioning journey for me means coming into my truth; coming into my authentic self.
