Ms.NAACP 2020

Hello beautiful people, my name is Kuan and I am contestant #5 in the first ever Ms.NAACP pageant. I am one semester shy of graduation and I plan to go out with a bang! I am a social work major, women and gender studies minor.
I am passionate about ending and/or reducing mass incarceration, police brutality, and black criminalization. My professional goals after graduation is to obtain a career in counseling at-risk youth in the judicial system. The platform I am choosing to raise awareness about is a non-profit called The Bail Project. It was created as a means to combat mass incarceration. The Bail Project provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who are legally presumed innocent, and whom the judge has deemed eligible for release before trial contingent on paying bail. Which enables clients to return to their families and communities.
