Birth a Midwife

Donation protected
At an early age, I knew I wanted to be a mom. When it came time to planning my family, there was no doubt in my mind that I would have a natural birth with a midwife.

During my initial prenatal visits, I saw doctors in the hospitals and then quickly transitioned into care with a midwife.

I had had my first baby with a team of midwives at a birthing center in the Bay Area and my second daughter at home with a black midwife, student midwife and doula.

Midwifery care to me is a safe space. Midwifery care tends to the whole person to ensure she is physically, mentally and even spiritually ready to birth her baby, and experience her birth as a mother.

As a young mom of color, I met so many other women of color who had traumatic birth experiences and unfavorable outcomes during their pregnancy and birth. It saddens me that our mothers weren’t being listened to.

Black women have the highest maternal mortality rate and the lowest breastfeeding rates. Black women only make up 2% of the midwives in this country.

It is my goal as a midwife to serve all women; however, I am driven to support my community.

I am currently servicing mothers as a birth doula and I am excited to be able to serve mothers in their entire pregnancy and delivery.

Schooling and tuition:
I have been accepted to National Midwifery Institue with a tuition cost of $17,000.

National Midwifery Institute recognizes the need for black midwives and as a flexible payment schedule for students of color.

Your donations will go towards my deposit of $1,000 and a monthly payment of $225.

I appreciate all of you for supporting me on this exciting journey!
