Mrs. Illinois-International 2019

Hi you guys! It's Marnie!

Last month, I was honored with the title of Mrs. Cook County-International.  This fall, I will compete in the Mrs. Illinois-International Pageant, vying for the title of Mrs. Illinois-International 2019.  The pageant will be held on NOVEMBER 9- 11, 2018 AT THE NORTH SHORE CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS. (SEE LINK BELOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS). The winner of the state pageant goes on to compete against women from all 50 states, as well as against women in countries from around the world. Everyone knows me and how easily excitable I am. But this is indeed a huge honor.  What is the absolutely coolest thing ever, is the fact that I am able to still compete at this level, with women half my age. When I shared with my mom that I was recruited to compete at the International level, and that I will be giving it one more go, she replied "baby, age is nothing but a number. Keep doing what you love." As many of you know, both my parents (ages 76 and 80) are still living their lives out loud pursuing greatness with every ounce of life and vigor with which the Lord has so graciously given them. Recently, they both graduated with high honors with their Bachelor’s Degree from Governors State University. Now they are in pursuit of their Masters. SERIOUSLY!  I love them and a part of me wants to do this for them as well! They are amazing, and one of the reasons why I have so much zeal for life and service to the Lord!

If you notice the collage of photos as my cover shot, it truly explains who Marnie is: my family life, my passions, my career, my talent, and my overall journey. One of my passions (among the many of them) is my commitment to a lifestyle of fitness and nutrition. If you know anything about me, if I’m not singing at church, hanging out with my hubby and kids, or executing some type of communication or publicity strategy, I am more than likely busting a sweat in the gym with my son, Myles and meal prepping organic food for the week, and watching some documentary about food! Yep, I actually do this. That is why I am so super excited about my platform, “Let Thy Food be They Medicine and Thy Medicine Be Thy Food”, which speaks to the importance of diet and nutrition for disease prevention. If you know me, this is right up my alley!   I work in health care, and I live, sleep and breathe this lifestyle every single day. I am a living witness that food heals! At The Loretto Hospital, I have witnessed how eating a whole food, primarily plant-based diet, is reversing diabetes, decreasing patients PSA levels, lowering blood pressure, reversing heart disease and even providing relief from some forms of depression. This is a real message people need to hear, and I am excited to promote it.

As many of you also supported me back in 2015 in the Mrs. Illinois-America Pageant System, where I placed 3rd Runner-up, you all know how very difficult it is to even compete at this level without the financial backing and partnership of your friends and family.  That is why I have established this Go Fund Me account for your generous support. 

I would not only be honored, but so greatly blessed by all of you who are willing to endorse me as the next Mrs. Illinois-American, and MRS. INTERNATIONAL! One hundred percent of the donations I receive will be used for my participation in this pageant, which so far are totaling $3,200.  I appreciate all levels of support. All donations are tax  deductible.
