2020 Mr.Athens - Jason Kemp

My name is Jason Kemp, and I am a senior at Athens High School in Troy, Michigan.  I am happy to be representing the Class of 2020 in this year's Mr. Athens Pageant as I work to raise money for charity.  Every year at Athens High School, the student body comes together with the support of our teachers, administrators, and the local community to spend an entire week raising money for a well-deserving charity.  Last year, in one short week, our student body raised over $130,000! 
 
This year, the charity that has been selected to receive our donations is Elli’s House. Elli’s House is a charity that helps homeless and runaway women in the Detroit area. Elli’s House has a goal of, “providing a two-year plan that provides family problem solving, crisis management, and continued counseling and medical services.” 
 
In the Troy Community, we are so fortunate to be able to do something about this issue!  We have many local jobs, great local businesses, and world-class school systems.  I feel it is our duty to give back to those who are less fortunate (and living less than 20 miles away from us)! 
 
No gift to this organization is too small!  Every dollar can help!  I only have a little over one short week (February 8 - 14, 2019) to raise as much as I can.  The grand total raised for this year's Charity Week will be revealed at Athens High School at our pep assembly on Friday, February 14.  You will most likely see it on the local news again this year, but I will make sure to keep you updated with the results.
