Ayuda para Alejandrito
My name is Dany Baya and I am the mother of a 9-year-old boy named Alejandro.
Three months ago his life as well as ours changed completely as he was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare genetic disorder that affects mostly males, in this case my little boy. This rare disease is characterized by the breakdown or loss of the myelin sheath surrounding nerve cells in the brain and progressive dysfunction of the adrenal gland. This is the same disease depicted in the movie Lorenzo's oil.
Alejandro visited doctors in Brazil and we were told there is nothing they can do for him as the level of the disorder appers to be too advanced. The only way we can try help him survive is by travelling to the US, as it is only there where we can find specialists in this disorder who can treat him, and hopefully perform a bone marrow transplant.
Today I am begging for your compassion and help in these times of sorrow. We are not only fighting against time, but also against our financial constraints:so I humbly ask you to please look in your heart and kindly donate to this cause. Any little bit helps.
