Help!! me fix my car

My car broke down driving home from church on January 27th. I’m retirement age and my only income is from social security/disability and have medical conditions that require frequent trips to the doctor and various clinics. With my limited income mostly going toward housing costs I have no money available to fix my car. I’ve had two estimates from mechanics saying it will cost anywhere between $1500 and $1750 to fix.  

I’ve been independent my entire adult life and having to rely on friends and family is causing me to be a burden. I know they say they don’t mind helping me but I know that it is often inconvenient at the least. I’ve had to reschedule appointments I’ve had made months in advance because I was unable to find a way to get there without my car. Getting assistance from other services for disabled individuals is also difficult as I seem to fall between the cracks for many services - including those for transportation. I’ve not had to ask for help before and this is quit the humbling experience. At my age and with my limited income getting another car is not an option and neither is getting a personal loan from a bank to fix the car (I’ve checked into both).

It was suggested to me by my pastor to try a crown funding site to see if I could raise the funds in that manner, so here I am asking friends, family and complete strangers for help in this matter. I find that without a car my health is at risk and the additional stress that has been added to my life isn’t helping matters nor is feeling as if I’m burdening others. If I can get my car fixed I’m planning to pay the help forward any way I can, including donating volunteer time with my church and other organizations.
