Coach Etz Court

Coach Etz Court is our vision to honor our basketball coach Mark Etzelmiller, who left us too soon. Coach Etz had a legendary impact on his players, his passion for the game and his players is what set him apart.
We plan to redo a an outdoor court east of the rec center with and Advanced Sport Court, add baskets, lighting, and possibly fencing.
Etzelmiller grew up in Minden, where he made the Class B all-state basketball team as a senior in 1975. He played football and basketball at Fort Hays (Kan.) State, then transferred to Kearney State and played on the Lopers' 1978 NAIA national runner-up basketball team.
He coached high school teams at Orleans, Genoa, Ogallala, Hastings and Southern Valley, with a 329-234 career record.
His greatest success was at Ogallala, with his 1991-92 Indians reaching the Class B final by ending Wahoo's state-record 114-game winning streak in the semifinals.
