Lorraine (Rainbow) Archer is a strong and loving woman whose kindness and compassion has quietly touched so many lives. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and best friend and in spite of having battled cancer since she was 30, has made her home and heart a refuge for those in need for over 20 years. Lorraine lost her own mother to cancer at the age of 12 and stepped into the role of mother and caregiver to her younger siblings and father. As she reflects upon that time, her concern is for the burdon on those around her as opposed to her own pain.
Now, at the age of 67, our "Rainbow" is in the throes of cancer battle round 3. Her cancer, in spite of being slow-growing, is resistent to most chemotherapy and radiation treatments and is inoperable. It has spread throughout her liver and colon and has begun to invade her kidneys. The chemotherapy regime she did undergo was brief and only served to further compromise her immune system. Her only remaining treatment option is immunotherapy which is not accepted as a "proven scientific method" of treating cancer, so neither her Oncologist nor her insurance company will entertain such an option.
The out-of-pocket expenses for immunotherapy alone will be significant, travel and living expenses aside, as Lorraine will remain in the facility for the "Meyers Cocktail" immunotherapy treatment and her husband will need to remain on-site in Georgia throughout the duration of the treatment - up to six weeks.

She was a minister (when it was not acceptable for women to be ministers) and her faith in God has never appeared to falter - even in the face of pain and loss.
