Move Mountains for Angela

Donation protected

My name is Angela Mendez and I am an adult student at St. Edwards University. I work full time in a public school district where I am the Data Management Specialist. Prior to working in my current position, I was laid off from Washington Mutual Card Services. The company moved my job to the Dallas-Ft Worth area and due to not being able to relocate, I was left without a job. I went back to school to obtain a career instead of just another job so that I would not be in that situation again. I attended Southern Careers Institute full-time for one full year in which I earned a Computerized Bookkeeping Specialist Diploma. I was devastated after $15,000 was spent for the diploma and I could not get a job anywhere and to make matters worse, no one recognized the degree.

In the meantime, God blessed me with a position with my current employer; however, I did not give up on obtaining a career in business and accounting. Making little money in the position that I held, I decided to go back to school in the spring of 2009 to earn the pay for the work that I was doing. My husband and children were a little concerned because I am a mom and step mom to eight wonderful children and a grandma to sixteen beautiful little ones.

As you can imagine, working full time; at times holding several part-time jobs; going to school part-time and maintaining a family life is difficult. No matter how difficult I have remained focused and thanking God and my family for the strength and support for each milestone accomplished. I obtained my Associates Degree in Business Administration from Austin Community College in the fall of 2012. During the same semester I transferred to St. Edwards University to begin completing my undergraduate degree. It has been a long road, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I am super excited to have six courses left to complete my BBA-Accounting degree, unfortunately I have run out of available funds. All of my student loans are maximized and scholarships utilized. To complete my degree this school year (2017-2018), I need $11,978 just for tuition and fees. This amount does not include books nor supplies. The funds are needed beginning August 2017 through July 2018. I feel that God has brought me too far to give up now; therefore, creating this GoFundMe page is my last attempt to finish and be able to follow my dreams and accomplish the goals that I have set for myself and family. This degree will aid in the final credentials needed for opening two of the four businesses I see in my future and the legacy that I will leave to my children and grandchildren.

Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. I understand if you cannot donate at this time; so, simply sharing my page with friends and associates will be sufficient enough and I know the Lord will do the rest.

Thank you in advance and May God bless you just for taking the time to read my page and help move this mountain (AMEN)!
