Move Mountains for Matt

Donation protected
On January 12th, Matt suffered a sudden herniated disc in his upper back that significantly compressed his spinal cord and resulted in the inability to walk. After spending all day in the ER in Akron, he was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic for emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord.  (This was the day we had a big snowstorm, so it was really fun for the family to get to Cleveland!) The surgeon said it went well, but he has been left with a spinal cord injury and has no feeling or function below the belly button. After spending 4 days in ICU and another week on the regular floor, he was transferred closer to home for intensive inpatient rehab. This has been incredibly difficult for all of us to accept and adjust to. The doctors and therapists continue to tell us not to give up hope for some recovery, but we now need to prepare our house to be wheelchair accessible so Matt can come home and receive in home therapies until he can transition to an outpatient facility. There are many major renovations that need to be quickly completed for this to happen. Our family and friends have been incredible with their support through this crisis so far. Any help would be so greatly appreciated, as the medical and renovation expenses are truly overwhelming. We are thankful for all of the prayers - please keep them going!
