Options Mournes Sevens Sevens Challenge
Don protégé
This May, a team from Options will be lacing up their boots to take on the Mourne Seven Sevens Challenge - a tough but inspiring mountain hike - in support of the Sight Towards the Summit Challenge that is raising money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). We’d love for as many people as possible to get involved and donate.
The Seven Sevens is completed in a one-day hike that covers the seven highest peaks in the Mourne Mountains: Slieve Donard, Slieve Commedagh, Slieve Bearnagh, Slieve Binnian, Slieve Meelbeg, Slieve Meelmore, and Slieve Lamagan. With 2,500m of elevation, it’s a serious test of stamina - but also an incredible opportunity to come together for a vital cause.
Sight loss can impact anyone, at any point in their life. Over 2 million people in the UK are currently living with some form of sight loss, and every day, 250 more people begin to lose their sight - that’s one person every six minutes. It’s a sobering reality that often goes unseen.
The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is working tirelessly to change this. Last year alone, the RNIB helped over 700 people into work and supported more than 1,100 to stay in employment. But the statistics still speak volumes: blind and partially sighted people continue to face significant barriers, particularly when it comes to equal opportunities.
A remarkable challenge is being undertaken to raise funds and awareness for sight loss by climbing the highest peaks across the UK and Ireland over three weekends in May. To support the final leg of the journey, the Mourne Seven Sevens Challenge, we’re forming an Options IT team and invite as many people as possible to join us in this effort.
