Mother and Son Shot in a Crossfire.

My son and I was shot multiple times in a crossfire in South Seattle due to gang relations , It was a nice sunny day on Memorial Day Monday, May 27th 2019, there were several families and children out there enjoying their day barbecuing and playing in the water, i was sitting in my car in the parking lot grabbing a few things as I made small talk with my sister while holding my son when all of a sudden two cars drove threw the busy parking lot and started shooting at each other while recklessly driving threw the beach lot. After hearing the gun shots go off I covered my child to protect him and as the bullets flew threw my car hitting me twice in the chest one exiting threw my lower back and another that went threw me and into my sons back getting stuck in his back tissues, I was told I saved my sons life that day as nearby strangers and the grace of god saved mines, I was transported to Harborview hospital being held in ICU fighting for my life, my recovery has been a long painful process as I am still in the hospital but feeling much better, I had 3 chest tubes coming from my ribs , a hole in my right lung along with fractured ribs on my right side of my body, my son still has the bullet in his back as the doctors say he’s to young to get it removed and the tissue will grow around it leaving it stuck there for the rest of his life. My son and I are so traumatized by this tragedy but plan on staying strong as we made it threw this horrible time. I asked for help for myself and my children as I also have a 6 year old daughter and even when I make recovery to get out the hospital I still won’t be fully recovered due to the rest of my injuries and will be out of work for quite sometime, I ask for help to make things a little bit easier as I still have rent, bills, finances, having to buy a new car and still provide for my two kids all while being out of work, it will be a very stressful and difficult time for my family as we go threw this transition, we ask for all continuous prayers and any donations that may fit you anything and everything will be generous at a time like this. When I reach full recovery I plan to become a motivational speaker for my community and communities all around Washington state, this was definitely a life changer for myself thinking what if things would have went different for my son or myself just makes me very saddened but by the grace of god we are here living and breathing and I don’t want to take that for granted, I feel I made it out this storm for a reason and i want to tell my story to others who can relate or just need a positive outlook on giving ourself the second chance we deserve, I plan on getting involved in community events based off gun violence and how we the people can help save our children and how we can start making these public places safe for ourself and our kids. The amount of gang related shootings should not be tolerated in our own back yard, I have been going to the beaches and parks in south Seattle for as long as I can remember and now I don’t feel safe for my kids or myself in the local neighborhood I use to love spending time at with my family and friends. I’m also willing to volunteer as a activities/ motivational speaker at rally’s , events, schools and other places I can use my voice to talk to the young adults and figure out how we can better ourself and our community that we all live in.
