Mosh For Youth Scholarship Fundraiser Year 2

Who I am: I am a former high school teacher in East LA and have been in the hardcore and punk scene since I was 15, playing in bands since, and have not stopped once despite my starting my career and unconventionally "growing up." I have been passionate about HC and the power of the community within it. However, I have also been in the field of education starting my sophomore year in college. First as a tutor, then as an instructor, substitute teacher, student teacher, Ethnic Studies and AP World History teacher, and my new role is to help all schools within our district with their project-based learning efforts.

What Mosh For Youth is me deciding to put together these two passions: hardcore and education.

Mosh For Youth is an annual fundraiser HC show to build scholarship money for high school seniors students of East LA and Pomona.

We believe in the power of the HC community when coming together to help communities in need.

We know that the cost of college tuition and materials, such as books often gets in the way of low-income students from pursuing a college degree. Pomona and East LA communities have lower college degree attainment rates than the national and state averages. This is not for lack of ability, but for lack of resources.

We want to help. We want to alleviate the stress of money for students that want to pursue college. We know that we may not be able to cover tuition, but covering a semester or year of books would help out immensely. We believe in the hardcore and punk community to help out in this journey to try to make the world a more equitable place.

This is the second year of the establishment of Mosh For Youth, and this GoFundMe will be put towards scholarships for gr

aduating seniors of the school year 2023.

We are in the middle of organizing Mosh For Youth shows both in East LA and Pomona to continue growing the scholarship outside of the page.

Last year we were able to give 2 $3000+ scholarships to students of East LA and Pomona and we cannot be more excited to do it again.
