Moscoso Family Now and Later

Spende geschützt
First, if you live near us, or see my kids, please keep this information to adults only. They know that Papa has an organ that isn't working right and that he's had some treatments which had been helping. I do not want them to get the full story from a buddy at school.

After a tumultuous year of not knowing how this would play out, my husband's stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer now has come back full force and will not be something he can defeat...We are still debating another (3rd now) round of chemo, but this would be what the doctor calls "maintenance chemo" with no goal other than buying a little more time. That said, as there is no prospect of eradicating it,  we don't want to make him more uncomfortable over these next few months. We are looking at alternative therapies at this time. We want him to be able to enjoy his time with his children as much as possible, and free of the stress and exhaustion that comes with working through cancer.

Arturo, like the Superman that he has always been, worked full-time through his first two rounds of chemotherapy and was preparing to work from the hospital after the surgery we were hoping for. Unfortunately, at the last minute the doctor's decided this would have been too risky and this possibility is now gone. Truthfully, while we were working towards a solid goal that might see him healthy by next year he didn't want to "lay around doing nothing." He needed to have something else to focus his energy on (his words not mine). Now that this is no longer the plan, I want to allow him to stop working ASAP.  The stress and the physical demands of just showing up are just too much for him now, and I want him to enjoy his children and his life.

Once he stops working we will need to move to a less costly area, somewhere we have some friends and family to assist us and our girls during this difficult period.  What savings we had is now gone thanks to medical costs, which, of course, keep coming. Further, as he works for a small start-up, we no longer have life insurance that the girls and I might rely upon in the aftermath.  We would love to be able to take the kids somewhere as a family this spring, or finish the school year in our current home. These are my hopes, but I would settle for buying Arturo some down time. I would be happy to pack up and move now, and let him get settled into a quiet life.

Arturo has always been so strong, in body and spirit, he has taken the heat and picked up the slack for decades. Now it really should be his turn to take it easy, to talk a walk, or a drive, but not anything more demanding.  Any help is so very appreciated. Thank you for reading our story, and if you are so inclined, share with your friends and colleagues, with your neighbors and church groups.
