Morrison Family TN Tornado Assistance

Donation protected

My name is David Morrison from Johnson City, TN and I’m raising money for my brother’s family Stephen and Casey Morrison who live in Cookeville, TN and tragically lost their house to the Tennessee tornado in the early morning of Tuesday, March 3rd. They have 3 precious little kids - 7, 4, and 2 and a 4th child on the way. Their youngest had a birthday the night before the tornado andthe oldest turns 7 this week. What a whirlwind week for this family! All funds donated are directly sent to Stephen Morrison as the beneficiary from GoFundMe. Thank you for your support!

Stephen and Casey pastor the Cookeville Nazarene church and give all they have to their community.  We praise God that they survived and made it to the basement in time! The funds will go directly to their family to pay for things like temporary living, furniture replacement, insurance deductibles, food, repairs, and basic needs. They did not ask for this fundraiser but they sure deserve it! Please donate today to help this beautiful family.

Here’s what Casey posted of the tornado and pictures of their house:

“My heart is heavy, I’m overwhelmed and exhausted, but also overflowing with feelings of blessing and love.

God woke me up a little before 2am on Tuesday morning to the sound I’ve heard before of the eerie deafening sound of a train. I always had time to brace and hear it coming but as I awoke I knew it was upon us and we needed to immediately run. Through the darkness I snatched up Macy and started screaming at Stephen to get the boys and run! We had been celebrating Macy’s birthday that evening and Joel didn’t have school the next day, so for the first time ever he climbed into Rhett’s bed to have a slumber party and I let them. I went to check on them before going to bed and I almost picked him up to move him back to his bed but something stopped me and I left him there. (The next morning we would see electrical lines and a gapping hole above his whole bed).

As I was screaming down the hallway to wake the boys up to run to our basement everyone awoke quickly another thing that never happens easily. I got to the door at the top of the basement stairs and I could not open the door! The pressure around us was pinning the door shut. Stephen got in front of me and God helped him rip the door open as glass was shattering around us. We all made it down the dark steps with the roar around us and to safety. As we sat in the darkness we heard water pouring into our home. Sitting in shock unable to know what to do next. Once the roar stopped we were able to go back upstairs and grab shoes, flashlights, and coats. Our roof was leaking so bad I felt like the house might cave from the huge pressure that just surrounded us.

We checked our surroundings and our neighbor that wasn’t hit as hard offered for us to come sit. We had several people from our church trying to get to us even during the unknown of what surrounded us.

The past two days we have had so much love and help poured out on us. So many helping hands! We were able to salvage quite a lot of our things. I had so many moments of feeling overwhelmed with making decisions and I still don’t know what we’re doing! A step at a time, a day at a time. But so thankful and feel so loved. Our cell phones are still very messed up so sorry if I’ve missed messages/calls from you. Thank you for your prayers and great love shown. Many are asking how they can help and I’m not sure yet. We are looking for an apartment and I will let you know what is needed when we get to that step. Our church has started a meal train and will be taking a love offering this Sunday. We keep thinking of things from Walmart that we need, so gift cards there would also be helpful mailed to the church address. Your continued prayers are such a blessing also. Joel’s birthday is tomorrow and a lady from our church is hosting a little party for him there tomorrow from 2-3 if you want to come give him a hug.

Also, I am 7 weeks pregnant! Surprise! Still so early, but I covet your prayers for our new little blessing also. I’m afraid, but trusting our good God. We are taking this all a step at a time and are so thankful!”
