Morgan Godard Auto Accident
Please help and pray for our sweet Morgan who was in a life changing auto wreck on Monday night 12/7 at the intersection of Hwy 234 and Hwy 62 in Eagle Point, OR. Many good samaritans and EMS worked so hard to cut her out of the car, get her airlifted to Asante Medical Center in Medford, OR and save her life. So many friends and family have rallied around us in support as we have entered into a new journey that will change the rest of our lives.
Morgan's injuries are a punctured lung, injured spleen, multiple fractures and lacerations to her face, and damage to her brain. In addition, we discovered she broke the left side of her jaw in two places. A very skilled neurosurgeon spent hours removing a hematoma on the right side of her brain, which was followed by a CT scan that showed another hematoma had started on the other side. So at 1 am the same night, the surgeon took her back into surgery and removed the other hematoma to relieve the pressure. After this she was placed into a drug induced coma. The fairly good news is the pressures in her brain are now staying around 6-7 when they would like to see anything under 20.
Doctors are now starting to remove her sedation in order to wake her up and see if her extremities will move. Her right leg and arm moved which was really exciting! However the left side wasn't moving. Then later in the afternoon, we saw her left leg move a little!
We are told it will be a very slow process, and we'll have to take it day by day and be patient. We are now on day 2 and are told that days 3-7 will be the most critical ones because the brain swelling will increase. After this will be many weeks in the ICU, followed by rehabilitation. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank the hundreds of people who have reached out in support and prayer. We are overwhelmed with gratitude. In this dark and broken place, your support has encouraged and strengthened us. We will continue to fix our eyes on the Great Physician who has plans for Morgan that only He knows, and cherish your continued prayer and support.
