Carla Renee McGhee is a former American Basketball player who has played at every level of the game. She is no stranger to hard work and perseverance. In 1987 during her freshman year in college, she was injured in a car crash and was in a coma for 47 hours, suffering brain injuries and breaking nearly every bone in her face. She was told she’d never play the game again. But did she prove everyone wrong.  With determination and a grueling rehab program, Carla went on to win 2 NCAA National Championships with the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers.

After college she played 6 pro seasons abroad in Germany, Spain, and Italy. In 1994 she was a member of the USA World Championship Team and Goodwill Games.  In 1995 she was selected to  represent the US in the Women’s Pan American Games. In 1996, she won an Olympic Gold Medal with the US Women’s Basketball Team. She played in the WNBA  from 1999-2002 and held positions as Assistant Coach at Temple University, Auburn University, & Director of  Student-Athlete Development at Marquette University.

More to HOOPZ was founded with the purpose/idea of transforming dreams into reality for aspiring athletes regardless of skill/talent level. Each program addresses/approaches athlete development through inventive teaching. The lessons learned from More to HOOPZ transcend the game on the court or field and applies it to the every day  “game of life.”

More to HOOPZ’s  mission is to instill player confidence and teach life lessons that when applied keeps athletes accountable and responsible. Regardless of  the skill/talent, knowledge, and/or size (summer camps of 200 kids, small groups, large groups, individual, 1 on 1) the love, passion and knowledge of the sport will stream into the hearts and minds of every athlete going through the More to HOOPZ program!

During this COVID pandemic, More to Hoopz has faced challenges with how to implement training and pour into the lives of future athletes while maintaining safety and standards set forth from the CDC.  In order to be effective, the More to Hoopz team has to come up with "out of the box" systems and strategies to conduct training. In order to do this, cost have increased due to extra supplies needed as well as different venues that need to be sourced in order to have the "social distancing" space available as well as structure to make sure parents feel comfortable with sending their children back for individual training or camps.

More to Hoopz has been Carla McGhee's dream and she has put all of her experience, blood, sweat and tears into bringing this passion to life. Please join me in helping the More to Hoopz team stay afloat as they strive to continue to provide top notch service to the athletes and families that depend on them. I will make sure your donations are distributed immediately.

When you look back on these times you will know that you paid it forward by helping to sustain a valuable small business.

God bless you and remember "We are Stronger Together" #SmallBusinessRelief
