Mood - A Short Film

Donation protected
As young college filmmakers, we need your help.  We want "MOOD" to reach it's full potential, and in order to make that happen we need funding to pay our actors, supply food, attain locations, get filming permits, equipment, etc.

Synopsis:

"Mood" is a short film about the way that social media can create barriers to the full experience of being human, and especially focuses on the toll this takes on relationships. The story is told through a group of high school friends who spend a lot of time together without really saying much. The main character, Molly, witnesses her friends experiencing struggles such as divorce, abandonment issues, pride, loneliness, and heartbreak. Despite these difficulties, their true emotions are only communicated to each other when a new device, (much like a mood ring), detects and posts genuine emotions online. The group is finally hit with how they are truly feeling, but blames the device for not working correctly. Instead of acknowledging their experience of the full spectrum of human emotion, these youth choose to continue avoiding any expression of sadness or other feelings they perceive to be negative... permanently distancing themselves from emotional intimacy, even with those closest to them. Social media and Internet addiction are on the rise, as well as increased depressive symptoms for people who spend a lot of time online.  It is time for a wake up call.
